Was That on Purpose

Product Design, Branding, Marketing

An infographic and accompanying book that illustrate my progress as a designer throughout my time in school. The graphic holds 30 graphs that each represent one of the projects from my first 3 years in design school. Each graph is represented again in the book, along with a brief reflection and further information about the graph.

The Ask

Develop a multi-variant infographic that illustrates our design learning in 3 different categories simletainiously.

> The AIGA Competencies
> A Third Metric of Our Choosing

My System

A bag designed specifically for creatives.
A grid network of snaps allows for endless customization and insures that you have everything you need and nothing you don't.

The Cone of Plausibility

The Cone of Plausibility is discussed in
Ellen Lupton's book, Design Is Storytelling.
The principle is essentially that as you move further from inception and closer to execution various factors affect the end result in unexpected ways.

I adapted this principal to fit my process forward style of design. For each of my projects I look at how closely my end result matched my original idea. The size of my focal point will reflect that value. A larger focal point means my end result was much different and a smaller point will mean I stuck to my original plan.

My Book

While working on my poster I decided I would create a full book containing all of my projects, with a key and a written reflection for each project.

Process

I used a Type Writer for the type of my book, hand correcting mistakes and misspellings to further dig into the concept of process' role in the form of the final product.
